Library Vehicle Campaign

Update: July 30, 2026

I am so excited to share that we have received a large donation for the library vehicle and are close to reaching our goal of $225,000! Heidi Charleson recently paid a visit to the library for the first time since she and her late husband Louis E. Woodworth made significant contributions to the library’s renovation. Heidi and her family spent the morning touring the library and learning about our strategic plan accomplishments over the last couple years. After listening to us speak about expanding our outreach into the East Moline and Hampton communities and buying an outreach vehicle, she said she wanted to help. Heidi’s donation has gotten us close to our goal, but we still have a little bit of work to do. We will continue fundraising through the end of 2026 and have our vehicle on the road in spring of 2027. We are so grateful for all the support Heidi and her family have provided to the library over the years and for her continued support as we expand our reach

We have some very exciting news to share! For the past year, we have been quietly fundraising for the purchase of a library vehicle. Thanks to the Anna Mae Swanson Trust, personal contributions from our Board of Trustees, the Hampton Public Library District Board of Trustees, the FRIENDS of the Library, and other key stakeholders, we have accumulated more than half of the $225,000 needed for purchase. We are now launching a broader campaign to get us the rest of the way towards our goal.

A library vehicle is more than a mode of transportation for library materials, it IS the library. EMPL is a place for everyone but not everyone has access to our physical building in downtown East Moline. With an outreach vehicle, we can bring the library to anyone in the community, targeting areas and populations with the greatest unmet need for access to materials, services, information, and assistance.

If you would like to help us reach our goal, there are many ways to donate. Cash and check donations are accepted at the library during regular business hours. Electronic donations can be made using the link below. All donations will be deposited into a special vehicle fund through the Moline Regional Community Foundation.
