Recognizing the value of libraries to local communities as well as to humanity as a whole, the East Moline Friends of the Library was founded in 1998 to enhance library services, provide community interaction with library operations as well as staff, and to create public awareness of the wealth of knowledge that libraries contain.
What do Friends do?
Some Friends volunteer at the Summer Reading Kickoff Program, some work our bigger programs, and others work at the Friends Bingo Night. Lots of Friends attend meetings the 3rd Thursday of each month at 10:00am in the small study room of the Library to help decide upon new programs and ways to raise money for the Library. Some Friends, who are not able to volunteer, simply pay their dues each year. All Friends help make things happen at the Library!
How do Friends Contributions help the Library?
The Friends support the work of the library by providing funds for speaker fees, library programming and purchasing new equipment and materials. We also volunteer for Children, Teen, and Adult Programs, hold fundraising events and much more!
